9:54 and on. If you have to talk so much to explain your work and still you’re not really saying anything at all, maybe your work just doesn’t speak for itself. Or maybe the whole concept is the act of overexplaining the piece.

You are a lost soul Mahtab I couldn’t bond with you even as a baby because you gave me and your mother a lot of stress and worry because you would not eat or drink. We had to take you to a child psychiatrist that’s how difficult you were. Don’t forget that you and Henna were 7 months prematurely born. Which kind of public do you think are interested in your shallow and useless work? Idiots I think.

Great video, thank you. Austerlitz, and Sebald's work in general, with The Rings of Saturn being probably the most outsanding piece, is truly amazing. I can't think of any other author from the late XX/early XXI century who would be able to create such a unique literary style.

I have just finished reading Austerlitz which I borrowed from the library after going on a guided walk in East London with the poet Stephen Watts who knew Sebald - the rucksack in the book was actually his and Sebald asked if he could photograph it. On another occasion some time ago, I have been inside the Masonic Lodge in the hotel next to Liverpool Street Station. Thank you for this interesting film which has given me an extra insight into more details of the book. I loved the way the book was written, very poetic and descriptive.

was A not circumcised as an infant? if he was, then though he knows about that physical fact, he doesn't realize what was done, nor why. In which case, he is like so many American boys who are aware of the stitching under the glans and the scar, but do not know what was done, nor why, nor that others are different. and the reason this was done to them is ______

Kafka's obsession with description is a product of his (and Karl's) loneliness. Lack of intimate human contact makes one a keen observer.

Very good review of "America". I just finished the book, in a Portuguese translation by Susana Kampff Lages. I enjoyed discovering with you the source of information that Kafka used: "Amerika heute und morgen". As it may be of use to others, I note here the author's name (which the automatic subtitles failed to capture): Arthur Holitscher. Kafka's detailed description of numerous scenes in the book even gives the reader the impression that he was writing a movie script. Style explained: he was using photos as his sources. I loved this review! It's great for a start!

This was a very revealing documentary from the point of view of a photographer. I was immediately struck by how the participants interpretations of picture based books were largely constructed for them already by a narrow set of societal judgements and social judgements as oppose to impartial aesthetic judgements. 👍☘

The project of a middle aged woman whom in the decay of it’s sexual attractiveness recaps on the predatory and subrepticious quality of a snake and the sensuality of his skin pleasurably sneaking “in”. A tactile and wet intercourse betwen the frightening arousal of being a prey, and the fadding out climax of being swallowed. Another oblique and pretendedly sofisticated way in which a woman in his 40’s conflictivelly and sublimely mourns the c-k. Men tend to be more honest and raw with those matters. I guess that it’s why they call someone like Nobuyoshi Araki a misogynist. And I guess that is why the “woman obsessed with snakes” is such an overstated and recurrent trope of psychoanalysis.
